Frequently Asked Questions
Your journey to better vision starts with the right information. Explore our 10 Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about treatments, recovery, and what to expect at our centre.
1. What treatments are offered at Pusat Pakar Mata & LASIK Utara?
We provide a full range of eye care services, including general eye examinations, cataract and glaucoma treatment, LASIK procedures (Femto LASIK, ReLEx SMILE, PRESBYOND, TPRK), Implantable Phakic Contact Lens (IPCL), and other specialized treatments tailored to your visual needs.
2. What is the difference between Femto LASIK and conventional LASIK?
Traditional LASIK uses a mechanical blade to create a corneal flap. Femto LASIK, however, uses a femtosecond laser, making the procedure bladeless, safer, and more precise with faster healing and fewer flap-related risks.
3. Is ReLEx SMILE better than LASIK?
ReLEx SMILE is one of the most advanced vision correction procedures. Unlike LASIK, it does not require creating a corneal flap. This makes it minimally invasive, with faster recovery, reduced risk of dry eyes, and excellent long-term visual outcomes.
4. Who is suitable for PRESBYOND treatment?
PRESBYOND is ideal for adults over 40 who experience presbyopia (difficulty reading up close) but want to maintain clear distance vision. It reduces or eliminates the need for reading glasses while preserving natural visual balance.
5. What are the advantages of IPCL compared to LASIK or SMILE?
IPCL (Implantable Phakic Contact Lens) is suitable for patients with high prescriptions, thin corneas, or dry eye issues who are not candidates for LASIK or SMILE. It is reversible, provides excellent visual quality, and ensures quick recovery.
6. What is TPRK and who can benefit from it?
TPRK (Transepithelial PRK) is a “no-touch” laser procedure that reshapes the cornea without creating a flap. It is suitable for patients with thin corneas, those in active professions (such as military or contact sports), and individuals who prefer a flap-free, safer option.
7. How is cataract surgery performed?
Cataract surgery involves removing the cloudy natural lens and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). We offer both phacoemulsification and femtosecond laser cataract surgery, ensuring safe and effective results with clear vision restoration.
8. How long does recovery take after eye surgery?
Most patients can resume daily activities within 1–3 days after LASIK or SMILE. Recovery after TPRK or cataract surgery may take slightly longer (4–7 days). Your doctor will provide personalized guidance depending on your treatment.
9. Is laser eye surgery painful?
No, laser procedures are virtually painless. Anesthetic eye drops are used, so patients only feel mild pressure. After surgery, some may experience temporary discomfort, dryness, or mild irritation, which usually subsides within a few days.
10. How can I book a consultation?
You may contact us by phone at 04-440 4368, WhatsApp at 017-8181415 / 012-4358181, or visit us directly at Cinta Sayang Resort Homes, Sungai Petani. Our team will assist you in scheduling an appointment at your convenience.
